MEC was founded by Senior British Diplomats with extensive knowledge of the Middle East in order to provide specialised advisory services to clients seeking to maximise their interests in the region. Founding Chairman, Sir John Moberly, CMG KBE, was British Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq. Founding Managing Director Geoffrey Hancock, CMG, held senior sensitive positions in London, Iraq, the Gulf Countries and Lebanon.
The company established an early reputation for extensive knowledge and effective advice when it acted, on a confidential pro bono basis, as advisers to the UK government and Lambeth Palace in achieving the release of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s kidnapped Special Advisor, Terry Waite, after four years of imprisonment.
Today, the MEC client base is global and includes many of the strongest and best informed corporations, institutions and governments. Founded over 30 years ago, MEC has over three decades of expertise in assisting corporate, government, media and other clients by providing business intelligence and specialised knowledge of complex and volatile markets, as well as bespoke, action-orientated advice on how to deal with them. Our experience supports clients’ strategic decision-making by providing authoritative and original insights into the factors behind the risks and opportunities.
MEC provides tailored analytical and advisory services, and access to MEC working groups that provide in-depth understanding of key issues and advance our clients interests in Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.
