A former Chairman of MEC, John W. Wood is Chairman of Trilateral Group, a long-time MEC stakeholder. He is also Chairman of the non-profit Institute for Applied Science which he co-founded with Russian Academician Evgeny Velikhov to support non-proliferation through East-West Science and Technology Cooperation and Commercialisation.
Prior positions held include: Chairman of Cambridge based international development consultancy Segal Quince Wickstead; Director, Oxford Analytica, the Oxford based global policy think-tank; and Director, Ludgate Investments Ltd, a company providing corporate finance and venture capital for growing companies with a strong focus on new energy and environmental technologies; and Chairman, the Institute for United States Studies, London University.
He has also served in the US State Department as an advisor to the Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security; as Chairman of the Board of Visitors of the US Government’s International Nuclear Material Protection Co-operation and Accounting Program; and as Co-Chairman, with Academician Velikhov, of the joint US-Russian Government talks on Nuclear and Radiological Security (IANRS) initiated in London in 2002. He is Chairman Emeritus of Republicans Abroad, the global arm of the Republican Party.
