Dr. Guckian is a former British Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman (2005-2011), with over 30 years experience in the Middle East and working on Middle Eastern topics in London and at Universities in the UK. He also served as Head of Post three times (twice in Libya as Head of the British Interests Section in the Italian Embassy, including re-opening diplomatic relations in 1999) and once based in Kirkuk as the first Consul General in Northern Iraq since the 1950s .
He has wide diplomatic experience in the Middle East – all countries visited and worked on/in: including commercial, economic, political defence work, and conflict zones. Specific career anchors: Libya, Iraqi Kurdistan and Oman (and the wider Gulf) .
He joined the Board of MEC International in 2013 and has taken on the role of Editor in Chief of the MEC Analytical Group.
